The invention of safety glass had its origin in the 19th century. Safety glass is practically used everywhere today, in windows, safety glasses, car windshields, computer monitors and more. It is called safety glass because unlike normal glass sheets, it has been tempered with heat to produce a relatively harder type of glass. Its major feature is that it doesn't break like normal glass. When it does break, the glass shards shatter in a way that do not severely injure the person or persons involved in the incident.
